THE HARVEST 2019 IN MONTEPULCIANO
Dear friends, a brief summary of the harvest 2019 is shown below
Three weeks of sampling in August have allowed us to follow the progress ripening of the grapes The grapes tasting, monitoring sugar concentration and total acidity, we decided the start date harvest of the Gracciano della Seta vineyards. Following in the tradition of Nobile di Montepulciano, the grapes from each site are harvested and vinified separately.
The harvest by hand, began on September 19th with the Merlot grapes that will be used small part in Rosso di Montepulciano and Nobile di Montepulciano. Excellent sugar content, neat fruity aroma and deep color suggest a very good quality.
The harvest of Sangiovese began on september 23th in the vineyard "Maramai" then proceeded to the "Toraia" vineyard and, finally, the crus "Rovisci" and "Casale" during the first ten days of October. The harvest and selection by hand have been suspended just from two days of rain.
We are very satisfied to date, thanks to good quantity of grapes harvested, of about 130 tons, equal to 6,8 tons par hecatare, much more than the last four years.
During the first tastings, after the malolactic fermentation, we find on the wines very vivid colors, strong fruity notes and medium body supported by subtle tannins. At the analytical level the alcohol content be between 13,5 and 14 %vol. The acidity is average as the total content of polyphenols.
