Rosso di Montepulciano DOC is a so-called younger brother of the much more important Vino Nobile. It is therefore a denomination that generally proposes simple and ready-to-drink wines, which are not asked for higher concentrations, depth or longevity. And this is the wine-style pursued by the majority of producers with an awareness and clarity of intent that seem to me increasingly rooted even compared to the recent past.

The tastings carried out recently have examined, in order of frequency, the Reds of the vintages 2018, 2019 and 2017. I selected, in the Report available for subscribers, the reviews of the best 10, all worthy of attention also for the favorable quality- price, produced by the following companies, in alphabetical order:

Avignonesi, Boscarelli, Cantina Chiacchiera, Casale-Daviddi, De’ Ricci, Fassati, Gracciano della Seta, Il Conventino, Lunadoro e Manvi.

GRACCIANO DELLA SETA 2019: it smells of red fruits, strawberries in particular, is simple and a little thin but also juicy, pleasant, with acidity present but well distributed, easy and satisfying to drink. 86/100
